Message from Mrs Windsor Dear Parents and carers

view Firstly, I would like to welcome you to our new website. At Parkland we expect to keep you as informed as we can about your children’s progress, learning and what we are achieving in school. We hope you will find the improved site very informative. This term is an exciting new start for us as we are now an Academy working within the Discovery School Trust with Kibworth C of E Primary School. Over the Summer many of our pupils took part in our first joint venture, which was a Summer Camp for Maths. This was highly successful and we intend to provide a lot more joint school experiences as it offers our pupils the opportunity to broaden friendship groups and allows us to reduce costs. We will also work together as staff between the two schools, to develop teaching and learning quality assurance, policies and shared practice.

fort collins dating scene Plans are now in place to start the new build programme for our Year 6 Classrooms ready for September 2013. Our current year 5 will be highly involved in choosing their new teaching base, which will be a bespoke modular building. This term our School Development will focus on teaching and learning. Our main priorities are:

  1. To support quality first teaching by helping pupils develop thinking skills to apply learning in reading, writing and maths.
  2. To develop problem solving skills and basic skills.
  3. To improve communications with parents through parent partnerships.
  4. To continue to develop our behaviour policy and help pupils become more involved in citizenship. This Term we have many very exciting events planned which include:

  • Creative Book Week
  • Productions for Early Years and Year 1 and 2
  • Joint residential with Kibworth to Norfolk for pupils in Year 5
  • Harvest Festival
  • Family Fun Days – in school time with your children
  • Carol singing and Musicians at Christmas
  • Christmas Enterprise for KS2 pupils as part of our Fair

Meetings are now held monthly with a working group of parents to ensure that we offer the information you need. New noticeboards can be found around our site, which will help signpost you to current events and let you know about any weekly messages in addition to it being posted on the website.
