Mainstream Home To School Transport Policy Consultation – for September 2014. There has recently been a press release announcing the above. The Council is consulting for the following reasons;

  • The Council needs to make changes to the current policy.
  • The Government has encourages schools to become academies. This means that schools are allow to set their own catchment area for admission of pupils and to change the age range of pupils they admit.
  • The traditional link between eligibility for free transport and the pupil’s catchment are school is broken by this change.

find this The proposals will in affect only offer transport for pupils to the nearest school to their home address, regardless of the preferred school or the school that the child currently attends.
